Push the button - a meme

I have been tagged over at Diary of a Frugal Family with her new meme.

If you had a magic button that would do anything you want when you pushed it, what would you make it do?

My immediate thought was "Make me invisible". I tried to think of something more umm clever, but kept coming back to the invisibility thing. A kind of cloak like Harry Potter had would be good, or even, as Mrs Frugal suggested, just a button to push.

Yes I'll be Mrs Pink-Whistle! Does anyone else remember this? A quick google found this book cover. I don't think I would have realised how odd the book title was when I was a nipper!

Being able to disappear would help me disappear when...
  1. Elf wants his bum wiping
  2. He shouts out "I don't like the shape of my bedroom" at 3.15 am (I didn't make that up honestly)
  3. He wants me to push him on the swings (I know that sounds SO mean but I hate swings!)
  4. He wants something else to eat while I'm reading blogs and writing this post - oh that's now!
  5. The doorbell goes and I have to pay the window cleaner and I haven't got any money for the third week in a row
  6. My 89 year old next door neighbour is outside and wants to keep me chatting for the next hour when I have ten minutes to get the washing out before trampolining starts (Oh I am SO mean).
When are you posting this button to me then, Mrs Frugal?

If you read this, you are tagged too!

  1. Ha ha ha ha ha ha - you are a woman after my own heart!

Oh, blimey, just read your last line. Damn, and here I thought I could just post a sarcastic comment and be done with it....

  2. Lol - It's on its way as we speak ;-)

I think I need the windowcleaner version - I never have any cash at home to pay mine!

A book called Mr Pinkwhistle interferes would never get published these days would it?

He's back and I didn't miss him - shock!

His shoes lay strewn near the front door. ACDC riffs belt out from the amp in the front room. My head throbs. Peace reigned for five days. Five long, lazy days. Now that peace is shattered. The boy is back. But - prepare yourself for the shock - I didn't miss him! The school parents' Facebook chat page buzzed while they were away at their Year 5 residential. I started a thread asking if any other parents had received their postcard. We were asked to pack a stamped addressed card. I had but some other parents didn't, making them feel totally rejected! One mum forgot and felt awful. It was on this thread that it appeared I was the only parent who didn't miss their little bundle of joy! Other mums described tears at bedtime the night before. Tears when they were pulling away on the coach. And this was boys, actually, not girls. I jokingly said I was certainly going to win the Worst Parent Award for this half-term. One mum replied that I'd raised an independent boy ra...

Would I Lie To You board family game review

Would I Lie To You? "The game of believable lies and unbelievable lies ", linked into the TV show of the same name. Purchased:  December 2017 in Waterstones, for around £20 In a nutshell: These TV show-affiliated games usually show themselves up (Never Mind The Buzzcocks, Top Gear) but this game is fun and easy to play (if a little modified) as a family. You don't really need specialist knowledge to play, just the ability to lie! Every year for Christmas, I like to buy a board game to play, even though no games better either Ludo (in which my dad is the reigning cheater-champion, and argues to high heaven over the rules about doubling up or how to place your counters in "Home") or Rummikub (which we can now play with two packs of cards lest we forget the game). This year, Would I Lie To You caught my eye in Waterstones (other emporiums - emporia? - for book lovers are [locally] unavailable). It's a game, it says, for 2-8 players; however we dec...

Axl, We Salute You!

ACDC Queen Elizabeth Park, London 4.6.16 Last December, I was quite hungover, the night before having fallen asleep in a curry house after a long school term. I booked ACDC tickets with trembling hands. My son has recently got into them and has started playing the electric guitar, so it seemed like the right thing to do. Take him to an ACDC gig for his first one. We booked with our friends, also having two boys well into ACDC and a dad who'd seen them before.
