My December 2018

Well, would you believe it? I've just got into a Liked and Loved linky - created my first one at the end of November, presenting all the things I've liked and loved in that month. Sorted out my photos for my December one, went to check the linky thing - to find this! A Cornish Mum (the linky creator) has only gone and finished the linky! Oh well, I shall rename it My December or whatever month it is.

So here is My December 2018.

Footie The boy was awarded Parents' Player of the Match after playing against a higher team (same league) in our club. They lost 2-1 but we felt we'd won the World Cup! We've come so far this season and to lose by such a small margin against a team like that, well, the players should all be chuffed to bits. We had quite a flurry of goals this month from a defender who cheekily wanted to go back to his original striker position. Two goals for his Sunday team, five goals for his school team, another two, one last one before they broke up for the year above's team at school... What an exciting month!

Dressing up Our work Christmas do was a masquerade ball again this year and it was lovely to put on the mask again and get dolled up. It was my only posh do this year so I had to make the most of it. A last minute find of a dress meant I didn't have to wear my fat one!

Decorations I always enjoy putting up the tree and this year, I noticed how many of the tree decorations were special ones. Ones my son had made when he was little, gifts from friends, a handmade crocheted set given to me ... I've even saved a large cracker the boy made in infant school plus his early Christmas cards, you know the cute ones they make at school.

Mmmm my mince pies. Not a bad lot this year, made with Heston's juniper and hidden orange mince meat. Perfect with Rodda's clotted cream. Well I am Cornish...

More mmmmm I always say I'm going to make a creative pudding for Christmas day, and then never do. This year, I was sent one of those video recipes by my mum at the beginning of December - apple crumble cheesecake. Now while I can bake a mean Victoria sponge or a lemon loaf, I'm not a dab hand at anything else really. Amazingly, even though the cheesecake spilled out when I was baking it, it worked perfectly and tasted awesome both when hot out of the oven and cold the next day from the fridge (I had a portion for breakfast!). Go me!

Presents This was my present from my son. He knows I love my tea and Dorset Tea in particular. Even though I've cut down on caff tea, I still have one first thing. He bought me a beautiful gift set from Dorset Tea online with a tin mug to go with it. Perfect and all his own idea.

Daily chores I know he's a bit late to the party for this, but the boy's been making me tea daily. I tell him he'll get away with murder if he makes me a cuppa a day, especially in my China mug he bought me years ago when he was little.

New Year's Eve - This is a friend's photo but I''m nicking it. We usually host a party for our gang wsth dancing, cheese, more dancing and sometimes sausage rolls. As the children have got older, it's been going on later and later and this year, we managed until 2.20am. My hips are still aching from all the dancing, but it probably saved me from a hangover - well that and the espresso martinis that my friend makes! A fabulous party with fabulous people.
